Drills and Training
When: Saturday's 10:00 am. Starts Spring 2025.
Primary Object of Drills: To develop muscle memory for slowing the game down.
Participants: Player skill level 2.5 and above. Players will be divided by skill level for most drills so you will be drilling with other players of similar skill level. If any of the higher level players have time to attend and would like to assist or run the drills, I would appreciate the help.
Drills: The majority of the drills will be slow game drills – dinking, drop shot, lobs (primarily from the kitchen line), deep serves, slow deep returns, moving to the kitchen line under control, keeping your opponents back, blocking hard/fast shots and not swing at out balls. With emphasis on watching the ball, foot work, court position awareness – both yours and your opponents.
Sample drill session:
Two people dinking across from one another, placing the ball at their opponents forehand, center and back hand. Twenty time over the net.
Two people cross court dinking. Twenty times over the net.
Two people wiper dinking. Twenty times over the net.
Dinking game to 11.
Drop shots down the line from center court. Two sets of 10 each.
