Dear Sand Hills Community Recreation Centre Neighbors;
Re: Proposed Development of 27 Court Pickleball Facility
We are writing to you to seek any feedback you may have regarding Sand Hills Community League in partnership with the Parkland Pickleheads Pickleball Club and the development of a 27 Court Pickleball Facility. These courts will be constructed beginning in May of 2024 and should be completed by September of 2024. Parkland County and the City of Spruce Grove Councils have committed their financial support for this project. Sand Hills (Hall) was originally built as a recreation facility in 1982, and with the development of the pickleball courts will bring more community usage to the facility. We want to promote community recreation increasing individual physical and emotional wellbeing.
As a neighbor within 800 meters of this proposed project, it is important that you are informed, and have an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback regarding this project.
Here is some key information to better understand this development –
We have in place an engineer who has developed the Grading Plan, Erosion and Sediment Control Plan and Parking Plan. We are in the process of doing a Traffic Count and a Traffic Impact Brief.

- Site Plan – Included for this $2,200,000 project which includes improvements to the hall parking, sidewalks, the building of the 27 pickleball courts and replacement of an existing storage shed.
- Facility Usage –
- Open 7 days per week – 7:00am – 10:00pm
- Seasonal Operation – April until October
- Open to the Public and Parkland Pickleheads members
- Weekdays – 200 people will attend – mornings, afternoons and evenings
- Weekends – 100 people will attend – mornings, afternoons and evenings
- Tournaments – 3 per year – June, July & September – Non-conflicting with Weddings (Events at Hall) or Ball Tournament
- A Site Plan of the proposed courts is attached for your reference
